the Mission

Develop a bold, unified brand identity for BLKTIV — a virtual health and fitness event created to educate, empower, and connect people of color around wellness trends and community-building. The goal: design a logo and social media branding that reflects energy, inclusivity, and prosperity, while resonating with a vibrant, wellness-focused audience.

the execution

I created a custom wordmark that puts the core of the brand — “Black” and “active” — front and center. Using staggered, overlapping characters and a bold italicized typeface, the logo channels momentum, community, and movement. Inspired by performance-driven brands like Nike and New Balance, the design speaks directly to the lifestyle and aspirations of the audience: active young adults and wellness-minded professionals.

The overlapping letterforms symbolize growth and shared progress, reflecting the event’s mission to foster unity and personal development. Supporting visuals for social media leaned into high-contrast color and dynamic compositions to build awareness and anticipation ahead of the virtual event.
